Did a road trip with my best friend to southern Illinois to see the full eclipse. It was SO cool! I’m 77, I won’t get another chance at this so I’m glad I did it.
Then when we got back to her house I couldn’t find my keys. I looked in all my pockets, emptied my backpack, we looked and relooked through her car and her house. Texted my brother saying I might need a ride home and his key to my house. Took a final look in her garage and they were right outside the door. I’m home, I’m exhausted.
@cjcrew heavy angst followed by relief.
Good on you though getting this done.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN This was a trip I won’t forget.
@cjcrew Need you a key tag...AirTag for Apple or Samsung Smart Tag. Both are better than others.
I got one for SWMBO and myself after a similar search. But I use it to find my phone more than the other way around. It at least lets us know when we are in range to zero in and ring it.
We use it 90% of the time in the house. (Know it is here somewhere.)
@S_r_stone I’ll have to check into that. Does it keep you from locking your keys in your car too? I’ve done that a couple times. The first time it cost me a $65 locksmith fee because Lansing and East Lansing police do not unlock cars anymore. The second time my small town’s police jimmied the lock and got them
For me, had to sign a waver first stating I wouldn’t sue them for any damages that might occur. It’s a 2001 PT Cruiser, I wouldn’t be able to tell if they damaged anything.
@cjcrew You can set a separation alarm with it. It won't keep you from losing both, but it will chirp if separated from your phone.
I set it but found my phone and keys are frequently separated at home. Chirping drove me nuts
@cjcrew Noted. My fingers have been hitting the wrong keys a lot more often lately.
@cjcrew Hope you had a good trip to my neck of the woods. Other than key hide and seek.
@poemblaze You live down that way? You guys are already into spring, we’re just at the “time to mow the clumps if grass” stage.
Loved the small towns we drove through and am jealous that the tiny town we stopped in to watch the eclipse had a Hershey factory.
@cjcrew I'm more toward St. Louis, MO, but that general area. Spring is definitely here.
@poemblaze Are you near Alton?
@cjcrew It's around 50 mi. north of me. I think.
@poemblaze There is an author of ghost stories that I enjoy, Troy Taylor, he used to live in Alton. Wrote about it several times, all the hauntings there. He called it the most haunted little town in Illinois.
I’m weird, I enjoy ghost stories.
@cjcrew I enjoy ghost stories. I just don't believe them. 😁
@cjcrew I've been through Alton a number of times. What state do you live in?
@poemblaze I’m in Central Illinois, LaSalle-Peru area.
@cjcrew 👍
@cjcrew I didn't know any towns around here had a Hershey factory. I must investigate.
@poemblaze My brain is fried from all the traveling and then having to get up at 3am for work.
Ok, asked my friend, she said it was Robinson Illinois. Nice little town.
@cjcrew I just googled. Over on the Indiana side.
@poemblaze I was lost, I don’t travel much and I’m the only child of my parents who inherited absolutely none of my dad’s sense of direction. That must have resided on the “Y” chromosome.
@cjcrew My dad had a great sense of direction except that one time his shortcut made the trip to my aunt and uncle's twice as long. 😏
@cjcrew 3 a.m. is not the time to get up for anything.
@poemblaze I agree but we open at 4:30 and I have to have the animals fed and give the dog 2-3 chances to go pee and poop.
Ah crap, I’m 66 not 77. Fat fingered it.
