I usually don't spend much time listening to "oldies", see too many posts from my peers about how "music was so much better in my day".
Jim Croce was first artist that impacted me when I heard he'd died (I was still in elementary school), Photographs and Memories was the first album I purchased with my own money.

There's so much great music being made now, so much access to artists you'd never had heard of before the Internet and I try to hunt them down on Bandcamp or their own websites to help support.
Still, Spotify has so much and easy to discover something new or revisit artists no longer with us.
