Putin came tino office then manipulated his cohorts to keep him behind-the-scenes in power after his term had expired. People dismissed his power grab, bemused by his finagling and puppeteering of Medvdev. He then rewrote the constitution to stay in power. And now he's changed it again.
The Russian people, the Russian media and the Duma let Putin hold onto power for twenty years because he seemed like a benign, despotic autocrat and now #ukraine pays the price for their apathy.

Had Trump succeeded in getting a second term, who thinks he wouldn't have sought to change our constitution to remain in power. We were bemused by his buffoonery and willing to give him a pass for being so bad at his attempt to seize power.
