i never went to my prom.

my family could never have afforded it but more importantly, i never wanted to go or waste my hard earned money on it. i was saving my work $ for uni.

i had friends who went to what would have been 'my prom'. i never felt i missed anything.

even 30 yrs later, no regrets. i watch shows where they talk wistfully of theirs or how much they regretted not going to theirs.

am i just odd? did i really miss something special? can you share?

@singlemaltgirl I just went for shock value. 1979, me and girlfriend went in matching tuxedos. It was scandalous.

@chuck242 ooh, did you spend a lot of $$? there was an expectation of spending lots of $. i couldn't justify it in my head. that was money for tuition.

@singlemaltgirl it was pretty cheap. rental tuxes were a lot cheaper than prom dresses.

@chuck242 sounds like it was a good plan, then. did you have a good time? do you have fond memories?

@singlemaltgirl of the prom, not so much, After party, for the freaks and punks, yep.

@chuck242 how much did it cost to go to the after party?

sounds like you still remember it fondly 😊

@singlemaltgirl it was a house party. girlfriend's brother was the drummer in the band. a year later she became my first ex-wife. πŸ€”
