As a Cassandra, I’m used to having my accurate, timely predictions ignored. I’m doubling down on this one. By the end of August, Mango Mussolini will have suffererd a politically disabling medical or psychological setback, fueled by his apoplectic rage at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris who outplayed him at every turn, culminating in an epic convention energizing Democrats, Independents, and many Republicans. The GOP will spontaneously combust as they struggle to find a new candidate. #Politics
@Samanthabwriter I believe that Liz Cheney’s notable absence from the #DNC convention is a significant clue that the #GOP wants a fallback position.
@LnzyHou @cassandra17lina Oh! I hope you're both right. Liz is more conservative than me, but at least I wouldn't be worried about the fall of democracy if she got into office. And woman versus woman for President would be very exciting.
@Samanthabwriter @cassandra17lina
She voted to reverse Roe v Wade & does not support voters rights. She’ll never get my vote.
@LnzyHou @cassandra17lina Oh, I wouldn't vote for her, but it would be a relief to worry at the level she makes me worry instead of at Orange levels.
@Samanthabwriter @cassandra17lina
Worrying won’t change anything. Do what you can and Vote Blue 🧢
@cassandra17lina @Samanthabwriter Woah, that is a very good point. That's why I was always cool on her. She's still a Cheney, after all.
Not a Trump, but still a Cheney. And if you go back far enough, you know what that means.
@cassandra17lina @Samanthabwriter
Given that virtually everyone in the GOP despises her for "collaboration with the enemy" in the J6 hearings, I really don't see them embracing her back into the fold to replace #DementiaDon .
@BenA @Samanthabwriter Agree. Only old-school conservatives would likely get on board. MAGA folks are too sexist and would hate to support her. However… there’s increasing evidence that the GOP cannot win with crazy, right-wing weirdos and perhaps the party will attempt a desperate course correction.
@cassandra17lina @BenA @Samanthabwriter
"desperate course correction"?
Well to be sure, if they do attempt a hail Mary of some kind, we now know that there's no rule or precedent that can't be swept aside. And whether it's a wise move or a dumb one, we can rely on the media to paint it as bad news for Dems. (unless they can see the light now. What are the odds?)
@cassandra17lina @Samanthabwriter
Or a Nazi-style putsch in which all of the old school Republicans are rounded up in the dead of night and are mysteriously "vanished"....
@cassandra17lina @Samanthabwriter
Agree.
