My husband and I began our voluntary COVID lockdown three years ago as well, the same night that our neighbors invited us out to dinner, an invitation that we declined. I am often the only person still wearing a mask in a meeting or in a public indoor space. Everyone around me, with few exceptions, seems to believe that COVID has been eradicated entirely.
@cassandra17lina My mask is my permanent clothing accessory. At least, for the foreseeable eternity...the attitude among the more lax is that COVID has evolved into an endemic range, no more of a problem than regular flu. I think I'll take my cues from the medical professionals who say it is still a much higher risk of harm. We still don't know enough about "long COVID" and what physical challenges await those who have it.
@cassandra17lina My mask has gained a new super power. In addition to protecting me from Covid, flu and whatever, it also helps identify idiots from a distance so they can be avoided from the dirty looks I get from some when wearing one. It has become a regular feature when out of the house and I don't see that changing.
Maybe I should add a cape & people can exclaim "who is that masked man" 😂
@Lucky188 @cassandra17lina i just bought 2 more new masks. i like not even getting colds anymore

Hubby and I wear our masks. We've been looked down on when refusing to go to family reunions, held indoors. Tbh, most of our relatives are republicans. Oh well.

Before vaccines I lost double digits-deaths slowed down but continued. Close friends and family. It put me in a tailspin. I wear my mask and limit outings. I have a prescription that damages my immune system-nobody’s business - I see the people give me weird looks. I wear them as a badge of courage. You are right this isn’t over.
@cassandra17lina ours started a week earlier. I told the husband we needed to do a couple of things first to settle in, and...yeah. Here we are, still masking and social distancing.
Same thing here. Started just ahead of the crowd and am still masked and distanced. This is far from over.
I’m still masking, tho my spouse has developed an “oops, I forgot [again]” habit. My business is almost entirely online. I guess it’s good to be an introvert in this situation.
Condolences to all who have lost friends and family. It’s tragic.
And a truckload of genuine gratitude to everyone who still masks. Scowls from others are a compliment to your integrity and perseverance.
Count me in 😷
@ATXJane I dont go past the mailbox without a mask. I even wear one under my motorcylce helmet because there is always that ratlicker coughing out the car window at the light @cassandra17lina
@ATXJane @cassandra17lina My husband and I will keep wearing masks. A fellow on my husband's route stopped wearing a mask. Both he and the other store manager caught covid-19 and one was taken to the hospital. Now they both wear masks at work. Better safe than sorry.

@cassandra17lina ugh, same. Last week our covid wastewater levels were higher than they were this same time last year. People be thinking it’s over, but ignoring it doesn’t make it go away
