Saw an article briefly but didn't get the chance to read it. Might even have been an Onion parody.
Some dude was turned because someone didn't want to hug him. The article was "men want to know if hugging is ok."
No, men don't want to know that. Men, already know that hugging is OK in some cases and NOT OK in others.
Want to know how to tell? ASK.
"Do you mind if I hug you?"
"No."
"Ok cool"
Don't take it as an insult. Just be a fucking adult and realize nobody owes you a hug. CONSENT is key
@carver_hudson Solid advice for all of us. I have some very close friends who just don't like hugs, and it's totally cool. No means no, regardless of the question.
@ekg1976 I am VERY much a hugger. I am an affectionate person.
but not everyone is the same as me. I ge that. I've been through enough personal trauma in my life and believe me I get it.
A friend of mine about a week ago had something cool happen and I wanted to give him a hug. So I asked him if I could and he said "Please don't."
and you know what? THAT WAS IT. I didn't demand an explanation. I was still happy for my friend AND I didn't feel the need to force myself on him to show it.
@carver_hudson I have a friend that prefers not to hug but is delighted by "air" hugs. Any kind of physical contact is a very personal decision and should be respected. I just hug the hell out of everyone who does enjoy them. 🐱
