I never realized why leather goods were so expensive until I started making custom leather goods myself for fun. I mean I understood the whole 'it comes from an animal' thing.

But the average consumer has absolutely no concept of how expensive -everything- involved with making something out of leather actually is.

I mean shit, the tool I use to make holes in a belt is like $30 and that's a cheap one.
