I came out fully last year, and I live in an extremely conservative (we're talking banning books by LGBTQIA+ and non-white authors) area. I was very frightened, but I knew I had to do it before my dad passed so I could tell him. (A gay friend encouraged me not to wait until Dad was gone bc then I'd never know if he'd accept me.) To my pleasant surprise, my dad said, "Whatever," which was resigned approval from him!
