Do you do research that involves interviewing people? There is an art to that. You can learn some best practices from a master of that art in this OODAcast:

Kyiv Independent: Over a dozen explosions reported near Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. International Atomic Energy Agency experts stationed at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant reported “powerful explosions” overnight on Nov. 19 and on the morning of Nov. 20. Some non-critical buildings, systems, and equipment were damaged, the IAEA said, citing the plant’s manager. The origin of the explosions is unconfirmed. No casualties were reported.

Truth: My current photo here is 8 years old. I think I'll keep it for opsec reasons!

One benefit of counter social is this is an opt-in community that, as far as I can see, considers it virtuous to examine and reflect before posting, which should help minimize the spread of BS. Also, @th3j35t3r does a good job of making it hard on hostile powers like Russia to steer the dialog.

Still learning this and other systems away from the birdsite. Not sure if I will totally leave Twitter, it plays an important role in open source intelligence. But will definitely be spending more time on counter social and also defcon social.

I don't spend enough time at Counter Social. I think I should keep it always open. There are no loonies or crazies here, and no Russian puppets (at least none I have ever detected).

Do you appreciate what @th3j35t3r has built here?

I'm not really new here, but not really a power user either. Anyone have tips on the smartest people for me to follow? I like learning about extremely advanced tech, tracking geopolitical issues globally and cybersecurity strategies.

1 of 3 - Regarding this latest 'Anonymous' clown theater. The site 1920.in does NOT send texts to Russians, it gives you a random Russian number and one of 6 Russian phrases to paste into your phone to send the message from YOUR phone...

If you use twitter here is my list of vetted sources that have been reporting consistently good info on the tactical situation:

I don't know what I was thinking back 5 years ago, but feel a need to hunt for these books and re-read again.

It is that time of year when we start seeing great recommendations for books to read in the new year. I've just reviewed my bookshelf and pulled a few out that I want to finish before year end. Have hit them all a time or two before. But feel a growing need to dive into these gems again, especially topics around Soviet Military Deception.

This is a 13 year old post. Written in a different time and was meant to draw attention to the need for us to get our act together regarding cyber. But now I think more than ever Putin sees himself as Csar:

Thanks @th3j35t3r for the assist and for all you are doing for the community here. Please keep up the good work.

If you see any use of deep fake technology in the , by either side, please let me know. Thanks.

If Russian Navy will use helicopters to drop naval infantry on the day of the invasion expect rehearsals. If Odessa is target helos will spend most of time over water but rehearsals might be heard and visible to some.

There are many reasons for the public to track the Russia attack against Ukraine, of course. We should all be informed of reality so we can pressure elected officials to do the right thing. But also we should think about what it means for making better personal decisions. And businesses should think about their risk profile, even if they operate far away from the theater.
