@Kit Good! As good as it could be since all my family are elsewhere. Went for a nice hike, caught up on sleep, kept the peace...I was wax by bedtime 🙂
@Minholkin Damn, if that’s how it is next year you should come to my house! It’s fine to be alone by choice but hate when it’s necessity.
@Kit You are beyond sweet! I realize I sounded more pathetic than it was...I was at the in-laws...it's just that they can be prickly and difficult 😕 And my mom is declining and my heart wanted to be there.
But I would love to shamelessly gorge on the array of culinary marvels you made 😉

@Minholkin When I was married, and younger and way more hot headed, there were times at my inlaws when I’d start packing the car with every intention of leaving my husband there🧛🏻♀️ I’d tell him I’d pick him up in a week lol sometimes we’d both leave, sometimes I would for a day or two. Sometimes I’d stay. Years later when I was his mother’s nurse I developed more compassion for her. But it was never easy.
@Minholkin She lived till she was 87 and I did love her after 23 years, but she was a manipulative pain the entire time we were married.
@Minholkin Sorry about your Mom too, how far away is she?
@Kit Too far but on the same coast, thankfully. We'll spend Christmas with her and give her the day she hopes for 😊

The tone is always critical here and it's a suffering olympics. SO so different from my values of gratitude and acceptance. But, they will continue to be themselves and I have to live with myself, so...I always strive for kindness but it's taxing, for sure!
