The Queen is dead! Not what a #beekeeper wants to find in a hive during inspection. But she lasted for almost five years! Time to re-queen the hive before winter hits. #beekeeping
@Call_Me_Peppermint_Petty great question - there are commercial breeders that will raise new queens through grafting. All bee eggs are laid identical, it's how they are raised that makes them a drone, brood, or queen.
@Call_Me_Peppermint_Petty here's one in a queen cage I introduced a few years ago - you have to do it gradually so the hive accept her and don't attack her. #beekeeping
