Serious question: my Farher In law recently passed and my MIL would like to borrow my 7 year old Black Lab for companionship (he’s truly like an emotional support animal). They’re marriage was one for the books. A true love story of over 50 years. She’s going through an awful awful time. My first instinct is to OF COURSE let her. But, I’m so worried he would be so confused and sad and scared. Am I over thinking it?

@MochiBall I'm sorry for your loss. My first thought is, have you left your dog in another place a few days without you, and if so, how did your dog do? Unfortunately, if your dog has a set schedule at home, it will be interrupted and your dog may become confused, scared and may become afraid of going places. Dogs need to decompress too, which they do sleeping in safety at home. Can she come and stay at your house for a bit for emotional support in her time of deep sorrow?

@bellesapepper37 it’s a struggle!! We’re going to go up with our dog and see how serious the situation is and hang there for a week and see how everything looks. It might be time she get her own companion.
