In a previous life I met with the Australian National Library folks working on a Māori digital project -- it was one of the best things I've ever seen in terms of respect for heritage, language, and culture.
@b4cks4w Australia has been very multicultural since the last vestiges of the White Australia policy were dismantled by the Labor government of Gough Whitlam in 1973. Before I left in 1988, government pamphlets were printed in over 40 langauges. Check out the introduction this federal document about Language Services. It's such a contrast to the U.S.
