Today's chore, unplug all the Alexa devices. I've collected a bunch of them. Been lax about having a listening device in every room, since I've automated lots of things, but given Bezo's fandom, time to take the potential surveillance seriously.
Given how bad the DIY options are, debating opening some of them up, and hard wiring a real microphone off switch.

@kay_dub Home Assistant has good options for a totally local voice assistant. I don't know much more, I use HA but haven't played with this aspect. https://www.home-assistant.io/voice_control/voice_remote_local_assistant/
@b4cks4w Ooo. Looks like with a $50 gadget from Espressif, I can play with making a replacement.
@b4cks4w Thanks! I'd looked into that last year, but forgot about them. I'll read up on it, there's a good HA <-> Hubitat bridge. At least we can buy Raspberry Pi's again, since it looks like I'd need to put those where I had my Alexas.
