Urg.
Why is nothing easy.

I need to update electrical, but to update electrical apparently I need to *move the main water line from the city*

Which is under concrete.

Super awesome.

@Beanc Wow that is...surprising. Trying to imagine that scenario. Wha.....why?

@b4cks4w because main water comes in (exterior) directly under where the main panel now has to be located due to code requirements. So the pipe and spigot have to be moved away from the new electrical location. He asked about capping it and they said move all obstructions from the three or fove (I forget which) foot radius from overhang and panel.

@Beanc Oh I see! No other place for the new Main? That's a pretty major hassle/expense.

@b4cks4w for the new panel?

No. Conduit or panel has to be x inches from the edge of the building, which is where that water is, so whether I install a new conduit or panel, the pipe must be removed.

@Beanc Bummer. They're being all strict. Safer this way but heck.

@b4cks4w yeah. I mean, I get code updates and all but I’m like…. It’s been fine for half a decade?

@Beanc I replaced an outdoor main panel in a 50's house and they grand-parented it. Didn't move nuthin'. Sorry.
