Despite being intrigued by the idea, I have so far avoided sending my blood and spit to genetic testing companies to try to figure out my ancestry.

One reason is that I know enough about it, from records, for enough generations back to have a pretty good idea already what it would show. And if it *didn't* show that, that would mean something extremely awkward.

The other reason, apparently, is that their security on your highly sensitive personal information isn't worth anything.
