Hey CoSo green thumbs. Any advice on dreaming with Tree of Paradise? Preferably no toxic which rules out nuke it from orbit unfortunately.

Holy heck that plant, Ailanthus altissima. Had acres of it before I noticed. You won't like this answer and I welcome alternatives.

Ag Extension agent recommended injecting roundup, which I refuse to do.
The game is to exhaust the roots. Have cut it down and scraped and plowed and dug up roots. It grows right back, so lather rinse repeat. Get the shoots knocked down before it seeds! Never ever let it seed.
Where we're at now; constant vigilance.

@b4cks4w I think your approach must be the only avenue unfortunately.

@Saorsa It grows so fast I wait for it to get 10' tall, then bend the stalk and smack the convex side with a blade. <SNAP> Extremely satisfying.

Haven't found a single use for it. Slightly toxic so even if it burned well, probably a bad idea. Was no good for mushroom logs. Don't really want to shred it for mulch, or use it for Hügelkultur, feels dangerous.

@b4cks4w Just the smell from cutting it is noxious. I remember it from my youth where it grew so fast at the back of our house it lifted the roof.
