So is the main deal with a smart electric meter that the provider can turn off power remotely?
Talk about a misinformation rabbit hole trying to look this up. 🤦♀️

@yogapaddlerun AFAIK They came about to make it easier to read meters in rural places. See also remote-read water and gas meters.
@b4cks4w My current meter broadcasts, but I think they have to drive a device thru neighborhood to read it. Also think I already have this when I upgraded to dual production meter with solar.
