'... Supreme Court justices often used personal email accounts for sensitive transmissions... Supreme Court employees also used printers that didn’t produce logs – or were able to print sensitive documents off-site without tracking – and “burn bags” meant to ensure the safe destruction of materials were left open and unattended in hallways.
“This has been going on for years,” one former employee said. "

@Coctaanatis And investigation headed by someone STILL employed at the court. IOW, the justices are the boss of her. Not a good way to investigate things.
@attilatheblond My understanding is that Chertoff is a private contractor and former Secretary of Homeland Security who, as a contractor, has done security assessments for the court. It would make sense to hire an outside contractor familiar with the court's security to do the investigation. I would agree if he were an employee.
@attilatheblond If the justices are too old to understand how to use a secure email system then perhaps they're too old to be deciding complicated legal issues.
But more seriously, the problem isn't that they used investigators with previous ties to the court, which makes sense, but that investigators weren't allowed to conduct a serious investigation that included placing the justices under oath.
