Dad isn’t doing well. He sounds terrible. Can’t keep anything down. Their 50th wedding anniversary is next weekend.
I have him 3 options:
1) I drive an hour to their place now and take him in
2) I call 911 and he pays for an ambulance ride
3) anniversary party is cancelled

He is really looking forward to their 50th wedding anniversary party so hopefully that motivates him to go in. I told mom to take him in.
Mom is taking dad to ER. Told Mom I would call her back in an hour to check in. I have 6 siblings & we have all been communicating to convince them to go to ER.
Dad is 72 & has DM2, Hx of 2 strokes & is stubborn as hell.
Their 50th wedding anniversary is next weekend and we’re having a party which dad is really looking forward to. We want him to be able to celebrate it. If you have extra prayers or positive vibes/thoughts we could use them.
They’re at ER. They drew blood for tests. Has IV in for fluids. Hasn’t seen Dr yet. Mom said she’ll call later when they know something. Told her to call regardless of the time otherwise I’ll check in tomorrow morning.
Dad doesn’t like being there but he knows it’s where he needs to be right now.

Dad update: last week he was at ER for foot/leg pain. Diagnosed with gout. The med they put him on (not sure what) caused kidney issues & dehydration. They took him off that & he’ll stay probably until tomorrow.
Now we try to figure out how to get access to his MyChart. Uffda.
@annamuneca
Please excuse the unsolicited crazy natural bs below, but i have seen thus take down gout in 3 days and stave it off. A friend with nordic roots can't give up shell fish or asparagus so drinks tart cherry juice before and after trigger foods.
It comes in pills but can be found in most juice aisles. Faster working than meds do far. Tart part is critical. It is magic.
Hugs to you and dad.
@annamuneca glad they figured it out & hope he’s mending well
@annamuneca how did your Parents end up celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary?
I remember your dad was in hospital just before the celebration and I can't remember what happened next.
@Mauve_matelot we had a large party in their neighborhood on a Sunday. Probably had 150 people stop by. Got to see some of their old friends I hadn’t seen in 20, some in 30 years.
It was a beautiful day and everything went great.
One nephew enjoyed trying out dad’s scooter
@annamuneca that is a great shade of blue on the scooter!
I hope they continue in Good spirits and health and have a few more celebrations and memories to share with you and the family.
Sounds like dad might discharge today. Guess I’ll have to figure out a notary to get their forms signed. Fuck.
