I finally got up the energy to write to my senator, Bernie Sanders. I said how disappointed I was; at a time when we needed leaders to stand and unite against fascism, he feel into inaccurate and unnecessary blame and finger pointing.

I said that his take that the Dems failed Americans who wanted change was ridiculous: People who want change don't vote for a 78-year-old has-been failure and criminal.

I said that the Dems didn't abandon the working class. Instead, voters voted for "they eat dogs, they eat cats" while the Dems were offering $25,000 to buy a house, lowering taxes for that bracket, maintaining healthcare, supporting unions, home health aids. If you listened, the entire Dem platform was supporting the working class. The real issue is: Why did he, and other men like him, hear that message? Why didn't they care about it?

Voters voted for power, racism, misogyny, amplified by a right-wing unrestrained media focused on both-sidism and false equivalences.

@TheresaVermont I live in a pretty red neighborhood on Jan 6 they shot off fireworks to celebrate ugh

@catlynne333 @TheresaVermont we also heard fireworks at 3AM in a very dry, leaf covered, drought-inflicted area of Bucks County in Pennsylvania. Those nuts could have burnt down whole neighborhoods. Clowns.
