Remind me again why, when kids under 12 insist on standing next to the baggage-claim belt they are in no way capable to grabbing luggage from, we aren't allowed to shove 'em on?

@agunn Kids are strong. They might be helping a frail adult, or just getting their jollies spotting the bag. It's okay to wait another minute if a kid is enjoying the experience. 😊

@Willowy I'm going to have to disagree based on observed circumstance. These were basically just standing by the belt rocking back and forth and not "helping" even their parents, who were the ones actually trying to grab the bags. If they're schlepping bags and aware of their surroundings, great, but that's not what was happening there. (And a deboarded plane full of cross people after a six-hour flight... not a great choice for "jollies.")

@agunn Righto, you're welcome to your thoughts about it, of course. Wondering where you might put them, instead? A snatched kid in a busy airport is a real thing that happens. But honestly, I was just playing devil's advocate, not really invested, just making conversation.

@Willowy 😁 Heh! No worries, and TBH I was as much concerned for them toppling in the moving belt as I was that one of them was about to backpack-check someone else onto it. Ideally? Both parents were present; have one stand back with the littler littles, have the other go up and sling bags to the larger littles to wheel back to Parent #1 and crew. Everyone wins!
