I heard the lonely ghost
of a Curlew today
High on my dark moor
Beyond the red hawthorn
Where the song thrush sings
Beyond the green meadow
Where the geese graze
Above the walls
Where the wren
pretends to hide
Ticking
Like an old clock.
Bright mills
On bright hills
Far away
Where the sun is shining.

Love the sound of a curlew. Reminds me of the Pennines where I grew up although sadly they're much less common these days. The sound of lapwings too.

@Zailrand so the pennines is where I am. We have been lucky this year and last with Curlew, and thebLapwings seemed to do better this year.

@matty7w ah cool... I was only up in July this year and it was really dry and hardly saw any...(north Pennines, a66 area)

@Zailrand thanks so much. Really appreciate your feedback😀
