I keep seeing people post opinion columns, as if they were news articles that presented news.
To me, an opinion piece is basically somebody getting paid to have their internet rant posted in a newspaper/news website.
I'm not sure why anyone would give a shit that some rando would have an opinion that someone paid for them to have.
Most of these are not even analyses by an expert. They are literally just someone talking out their ass.
I worry these fluff pieces are accupying the same niche as analysts experts who provide actual insight and analysis of what is going on in the world in their articles.
This stuff isn't even journalism, and often if you check the byline, you'll see that their only _job_ is squeezing out and pinching off opinions, not journalism, not research, not presenting fact.
@AskTheDevil
Sounds like Fox News.
@Xponent_Rob Oh it's not. It's from all manner of "journalistic sources".
We have a lot of people whose entire career is spewing opinions at us and attempting to get them to stick to us.
These people are not here to inform, they are here to manipulate emotion and sell ad-clicks while they're at it.
Their job is to conflate opinions with reality.
@AskTheDevil
It seems to me that THAT is exactly what Fox has been doing for decades.
But I think I know who you are talking about specifically. There are a ton of folks doing similar things on YouTube.
@AskTheDevil
Absolutely agree!
I'm thinking that everyone is doing it these days because they saw how many eyeballs Fox had drawn doing exactly what you describe.
And now it is spread all over the net because people like it when they hear an asshole farting a tune that was already floating in their heads.
