Today's household matinee will be, of course, "Independence Day."

When it was released in 1996, we saw the movie in a theater that was across the street from the El Toro Marine base.

When the general told Will Smith, "El Toro has been completely destroyed," everyone in the theater roared with laughter.

After the movie, we walked outside and could see with our own two eyes it was still there. 👀
