All cadets, rise for your captain! Academy Award winner Holly Hunter has officially been cast as the captain and chancellor of the upcoming #paramountplus
series #StarfleetAcademy 🖖
@WordsmithFL: The show's getting a 15-20% chance of success and being worth a damn from a variety of people, including a few I know at Paramount. They're in the middle of sale transition and partial selling off of departments, and they're both desperate for income *and* kinda hobbled managerially and financially. Things go not smoothly BTS, sadly but predictably. Discovery is still in danger of getting pulled, and Picard is done (thank goodness). The Kelvin films are pretty much dead. I'm...
@WordsmithFL: ...not looking to be surprised by how this project turns out. It still has a decent chance of never happening. Paramount's not having fun, and I really don't like that. But nothing lasts forever.
@thedisasterautist Disco has been done for quite some time. We've known for a while this is the last season. "Strange New Worlds" is quite popular and probably the flagship.
But you're right, the potential sale has it all in flux.
Hiring Holly Hunter gives a "name" to the project to help keep it afloat.
Paramount originally hired Geneviève Bujold to play Janeway, to attach a "name." That was a disaster.
