Got derailed by a work task last night, so the butter is *now* softening for a galette this morning after class.

Fingers crossed! I think I chose a pretty easy recipe, but transport to my friend across town will be tricky. Her parents are joining us to try it, so... hope it's good! 🤞

And I'm *almost* caught up on key tasks. Can't wait to move on to the next set on Monday.

For those of you marking Lent next week, what are you giving up this year? I'm planning on a little withdrawal myself.

@MLClark "For those of you marking Lent next week, what are you giving up this year?"

It's tough, but I'm giving up watching Fox News.

🤣 🤣 🤣

Having been raised Catholic, I don't recall ever taking this seriously. I mean, we're already giving up meat on Fridays, what else do you want?!

@WordsmithFL

I've had friends break their addictions to social media and lessen their smoking/drinking on Lent, so there's definitely some good that can come of the excuse to abstain.

😅 That said, giving up Fox News in Florida sounds tricky. Are you sure it's not mandated viewing by your governor yet?

@MLClark Given his recent creation of his own personal police force, I'm sure it's not far off.

People are entitled to their opinions, but I think they cross the line when they put bumper stickers on their car that read, e.g. "F*CK BIDEN" (no asterisk) and "IMPEACH JOE AND THE HO" (calling Harris a whore). That's despicable and sets a bad example for children.

@WordsmithFL

Back in 2016 this was an actual talking point in the lead-up to the election: Do you want our children learning from his vulgar example that this is appropriate conduct from the President of the United States?

There were even cases of kids repeating his rhetoric in class, and teachers having to explain why it was inappropriate even if a president said it.

We all know how that worked out, but the heartbreak is seeing how normalized it is. Somehow, in 2016, there was still a line.

@MLClark Yes, agree, 100%. The people who claim to want "family values" are the ones setting the bad examples.

@WordsmithFL

Class now, but Douglas Adams has our back on this one:

“Many were increasingly of the opinion that they’d all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.”
