Federal appeals court rules that #Trump doesn't have presidential immunity.
“For the purpose of this criminal case, former President Trump has become citizen Trump, with all of the defenses of any other criminal defendant. But any executive immunity that may have protected him while he served as President no longer protects him against this prosecution,” the court wrote.

#Politics BREAKING From #WaPo:
"A federal appeals court has unanimously ruled that Donald Trump can be put on trial for trying to stay in power after losing the 2020 election, rejecting Trump’s sweeping claim of presidential power that one judge feared could allow for political assassinations."
The article notes that #Trump will appeal to the entire appellate court and probably to #SCOTUS.
@NiveusLepus Yeah, I figure #SCOTUS will rule against him 7-2 or maybe 6-3. Alito and Thomas are a lost cause.
@NiveusLepus Those two are so wedded to the unitary executive theory that I have no faith in them at all. I'll take a win, even if it's not unanimous. Alito and Thomas know they'll lose, ergo they might feel emboldened to vote in favor of #Trump which would keep all those juicy billionaire perks flowing.
@WordsmithFL I honestly don’t know about that. If they voted for that, then they would be potentially imperiling themselves.
If, for instance, his argument was upheld it would allow Biden to go full Dark Brandon and “fix” the court with a Navy Seal Team.
I don’t think they would be so myopic as to open the door to such possibilities.
