These are sandhill cranes. They are quite possibly the dumbest birds on the planet. They will wander into stopped traffic and peck at cars. I was at a local ballgame that had to stop for ten minutes because a pair landed in the outfield and refused to leave, no matter how hard everyone tried to chase them off. "Peabrain" would be an exaggeration.
But pretty to look at. They're migrating through here this time of year.
