This is a 1992 A&E documentary from their "Time Machine with Jack Perkins" series on the Cuban Missile Crisis. It has lots of footage of Castro at a gathering of historians to discuss the Crisis, talking about his thoughts at the time.
Although young kid, I remember our mom crying and taking us to pray for peace at St Lucyβs.
@LnzyHou Years later, I found a database record that my father had purchased a handgun during these thirteen days. He probably figured he was going to have to defend his family.
We went to church every night to pray for peace. Although I couldnβt understand the implications, our mom cried a lot which was horrible.

@WordsmithFL @LnzyHou My mom designed the house we lived in an uncle built it. It had an odd feature reminiscent of that time. A small bomb shelter behind a metal door in the back of a closet was maybe 6'x6' with 4ft ceiling. Only ever used for indoor hide and seek games.
@WordsmithFL @LnzyHou Less common in IL but there is at least one. π
@WordsmithFL Did he admit that he asked Khrushchev to attack the US with nuclear weapons?
This is a 1992 PBS documentary, "The Cuban Missile Crisis: At The Brink," that I have archived on my News from the Past YouTube channel.
