Morning, CoSo! 💫

I’m a strong believer in writing from wherever the day’s feelings find you. This week, they found me frozen, while reviewing the news and wondering how on earth to use our impoverished media spheres to build a conversation strong enough to meet our global needs.

I have no set answers in this week’s first - but I wanted you to know that you’re not alone with the questions.

@MLClark Someone once told me that I'm "cursed with self-awareness."

I always thought of it as a blessing.

In any case, I think it's a trait you and I share. We not only see others suffering, we feel it too. We want to fix it, to correct it, to make it right.

I've never understood how some people can walk around with no empathy, much less enjoy the suffering of others.

Oh, and ...

"How many tits-up turtles do you want on your conscience?"

Do turtles *have* mammaries?! 🤔

@WordsmithFL

I was WAITING for someone to note that phrase. :) It was used to add to the character of the hyperbolic moralizer. Thank you for your attention to detail - in this as in so much else.

And thank you for sharing in that trait, Stephen. It makes the world a touch less lonely, to know others with whom the ache is shared.

Hope the weekend finds you in good standing - healthy, hale, and by poor weather un-h-assailed!

@MLClark Y'know, the frustrating thing about social media is you make friends with someone but you can't actually spend time with them.

I suspect you and I could yak at each other's faces for hours, but we're separated by 1,500 miles.

I really need to figure out how they do movie night here on CoSo. I'd like us to host a night where we watch episodes and do commentary. :WilLongAndProsper:

@WordsmithFL

That sounds like great fun, Stephen!

One of my oldest friends is actually someone I met on an LJ poetry group 20 years ago! We've never met in person, but always been in contact.

I also have another friend from that group here, & though we sometimes go longer spells without chatting, @stephen_a_allen knows I adore his poems, his heart, and the way he moves through this world.

Also, as any good Trekkie knows, we can always bridge the distance whenever doing so serves the plot! 😉

@MLClark True that ... In TOS, they didn't explain how it worked. It just did. In TNG, we got technobabble.

In "City on the Edge of Forever," Spock said, "We are passing through ripples in time."

If it were a TNG episode, they would have written, "We are passing through waves of anti-chronoton particles that are disrupting the space-time continuum."

One is elegant writing and pleasing to the ear.

The other is not. 🙄
