@Render @SalK I remember. Shelby's were my favorite cars back then since the GT40 wins. Bill Cosby was on Johnny Carson and told the story. Carrol left the car in the driveway and the keys in the mailbox. Cosby came out started the car and told Shelby to take it away...it's too fast.

@TomB @Render @SalK Cosby’s album 200 MPH featured that story. The punch line was “take that car and give it to George Wallace”. I’m pretty sure it was the only time he made a racial joke in his early stand up days (at least, on album).

@Weezimp @Render @SalK IDK if that interview is still available on the Carson archives but I was watching it that night. Cosby had another story about how cool he felt in his Ferrari. He pulled into a gas station and said 'fill it up'. The attendant walked around the car and asked 'Where?". Cosby said 'I don't know...you're the mechanic...spray it all over the car maybe it will seep in...'
