Despite their cuddly appearance, Komodo dragons do not, I repeat, they do not like hugs
@Vonzales at one point in my life, I was considering getting a water monitor lizard as a pet from a reptile specialist (smaller cousin to the komodo). I asked the specialist if they were safe and he goes "meh, kind of? Just keep it away from kids under five, should be fine." I laughed, thinking he was joking. In a dead serious voice, he said "I'm not joking." 😶 I ended up going with a ball python instead, which turned out to be a good choice.

@Vonzales I asked about that, he said "nah, for this species it's hard to say if they actually have venom or not. But that doesn't matter when its jaws are strong enough to bite your fingers off."
