You could open a can of red beans and eat them straight up, or you could caramelize some onions first, add a finely chopped green bell pepper, toss in a minced clove of garlic, give it a little splash of soy sauce, dump the beans into that fragrant splendor, add a spoonful of ketchup and top with a cup of chicken broth, let it simmer, thicken with a pinch of cornstarch and sprinkle with parsley before letting it cool down.
