Apparently, James Cameron is suffering from a common "old man" malady which seems to ail people more the more they approach death -- an urge to say and do things that, in their mind, will reserve for them a place in Heaven.

That is the only explanation I have for including a "messianic child of immaculate conception" into the world of Avatar.
