I don’t think there’s an ‘embarrassing stories’ thread here. Not a recent one anyways.
I will share one of mine. PG-13, don’t worry.

Long ago my extended family traveled from all over to Rhode Island to celebrate my Grandmother’s 90th birthday. Toasts made, dancing, and constant hum of conversation in this rented hall.
Tables, food, loud & warm.
I make my way to the small crowd around my Grandmother to wish her a Happy Birthday. She is a bit frail. I lean in, we chat.
I ask her how has she been?

She tells me her dearest friend was taken to the hospital a week ago….

Me: “I’m sure you’ll see her soon”, to comfort her.
(remember this ☝️)
Give Grandmother a kiss & make my way back to my table.
My sister is dark red with laughter & tears. Why.
I’d missed a huge detail from Grandma, after the hospital comment. Her best friend had also DIED at that hospital.

 😂

@Anouk Reminds me of a party game I played once. Like a funny quiz game, where you questions sent to your phone, but one person is an imposter who gets a different question from everyone else and has to answer is a way as not not raise suspicions.
I was the imposter, my question was “your last received text”, I didn’t know what the real question was. I put down “I’m waiting”.
The revealed question turned out to be “what your grandma said to you this morning”. Well, mine died about 10 years ago
