A colleague just reminded me of how they danced in Disco clubs in the USSR 😆
If a girl had a purse or a handbag on her, and she wanted to leave the table to go dance, she'd put her purse on the floor in front of her and danced round it while keeping an eye on it, otherwise it'd be stolen 😆

@Vonzales

That's what everyone used to do back in the eighties. Nothing to do with the USSR.
It became a massive cliché, but it's a fact of female life.
That's why I loved the rave scene when it arrived - combat trousers with plenty of pockets, no handbags or high heels. Just dancing. No meat markets.

@TheStorySmith I had no idea lol
But then you're in "tHe EvIl WeSt!", what's their excuse?

@Vonzales

It's a sign of age - LOL!

If I absolutely have to take a bag to a gig, it's one with loads of zip-up pockets and a long strap crossed over my head and onto the opposite shoulder so it doesn't fall off when I dance.

What do ppl do nowadays, then? Mind you, when I see clips of club nights these days, ppl are so busy filming it with their phones they don't even dance! Sad. Totally NOT what the scene was about. 🤦

@TheStorySmith I just take a money clip or a thin plastic wallet that fits all the credit cards and keep it my pocket.
I've seen girls hide credit cards in the backs of their phone cases.

@Vonzales See, combats definitely need to come back into fashion! LOL
