@ProudCanadianAthiest Been saying this for awhile as teams are from Canada and US but it has changed quite a bit as the players come from many parts of the world (though Europe, Africa lack the representation)
@Victor So do they play the anthems of all the countries represented by players??? If not that means its just a US championship!!!
US is not the world and since people do not realize that in the US, that is why they are about to get an EMPEROR!!!
@ProudCanadianAthiest The US is the only place where the National Anthem is played before the start of a game. You go to a game anywhere else in the world and this nationalist fervor is lacking. Same fervor is present in Olympics. Notice the rah-rah from US participants and less so from everyone else.
@Victor Guess you forgot when Canadians helped finish the US anthem when the system broke at a hockey game.
@ProudCanadianAthiest Personally, I wish that politicians would keep their hands off what people should be doing. For example, inserting "One Nation Under God" into the Pledge of Allegiance. Same with President Woodrow Wilson ordering that Star Spangled Banner be played in World Series back in 1918.
