Cops need to be held personally responsible for such incidents: A guy called the cops to report his dad missing. So they interrogated him for 17 hours, withheld his meds & threatened to kill his dog if he didn’t confess to killing his father. So he did confess. Turns out his dad was alive & well. https://www.sbsun.com/2024/05/23/fontana-pays-nearly-900000-for-psychological-torture-inflicted-by-police-to-get-false-confession/
THIS SHIT is the reason why I'm so against the death penalty.
"but he confessed!"
Do you know how many people "confessed" just to be able to eat, go to the bathroom, or, as in this situation, get their goddamn medication?
He tried to kill himself over this & when the detectives found the father alive, they searched the house AGAIN in a hunt to find something, anything to pin on him.
Criminals don't get qualified immunity. Torture is illegal. Fuck that judge too.
@ExecutiveFunction404 @Victor And they dumped his dog off at the pound. They saw his dog was emotional leverage, and even when they realized they were wrong, their next thought was to increase the cruelty.
These people should not be allowed around other living things.
It makes me so fucking livid. And one party not only wants to supply them with 100% qualified immunity whether on or off duty, they're also ramping up the death penalty for these coerced "confessions" via torture.
This poor kid will never, ever be the same ($900k? Seriously?!?) All because these cops are too goddamn lazy to do any actual investigating.
Side note: if anyone has an issue with cursing (not you, devil, I get it from you 😉) on this thread, please mute me or it
@ExecutiveFunction404 @Victor What kills me is that it didn't feel at all like they were investigating. It felt like they were excited and thrilled to have the chance to exercise the power to abuse and destroy another person. They didn't even know if there was a victim or a crime! There wasn't even a crime except the one perpetrated by the cops. They didn't care, they were going to break some person down and get them to confess!
I'd want to know whether the "drops of blood from his diabetes finger pricks" was also coerced. Because I have family with diabetes & we didn't have blood all around the house. I'd be willing to bet they lied & he, being so gd innocent, jumps right to when he sees his dad checking his blood glucose.
When someone refuses to admit their egregious error with indisputable evidence, they were never in it for the truth or justice...and they should never be a "peace officer".
@ExecutiveFunction404 @AskTheDevil This behavior will continue as long as police departments and police officers are not held criminally accountable for their actions. Taxpayers are the ones that pay financially for it and citizens are harmed. There is no trust nor are police looked at for protections, rather people look for protection against police. Sad state of affairs nowadays.
@Victor @ExecutiveFunction404
Yeah. I don't think police departments feel all that disciplined when their officers do something bad, and the response is that taxpayers foot the bill for their behavior.
Cops that abuse their authority and harm people should face consequences. Departments that allow it should face consequences.
Bastards
Absolutely enraging. All of it. 😡
"Three of the involved officers remain employed with the department. One other officer has retired."
"Perez was not released until after the end of the three-day psychological observation period. He then retrieved his dog from Riverside County Animal Services, tracking her down through an implanted chip, Steering said."
@Victor
#BASTARDS!
