Church wants it all: Suck at the government's teat and deny #LGBTQI rights. Denver Archdiocese sues Colorado over right to exclude #LGBTQ people from universal preschool. #religion #civilrights https://www.denverpost.com/2023/08/16/colorado-catholic-schools-lawsuit-lgbtq-preschool/
@sloudermilk One of the fascinating aspects of Christianity is the many denominations: US has 200 and there are 45,000 throughout the world. Interpretation and theology play a huge part in creating so many different denominations (churches). Things like idols (statues/pictures of saints, Jesus a-la Catholics), speaking in tongues and snakes (a-la Pentecostals), only males allowed to be priests (quite a few denominations)...All these are exclusive denominations that keep certain people out (cont)
@Victor
It's one of multiple reasons I left traditional Christianity for Unitarian Universalism. 🙏
@sloudermilk With this said, yes, there are churches that are inclusive (LGBTQ), women priests...but are the black sheep of main Christian denominations. I have been waiting for church leaders to start denouncing Christian Nationalism but it has not been loud and clear. https://religionnews.com/2023/08/11/christian-nationalisms-opponents-are-getting-organized/ Waiting for a schism that creates a new church denomination that is tolerant of everyone and not just a singular church...
