Going to the bank in a bit to close mom's account, credit card, and open new ones.
Hubby is going to wipe her computer. We don't know how compromised she is, so doing all the things to keep what little money she has left safe.
#cosonauts if you have elderly people in your life, *please* educate them about scams targeted at them. At least make sure they'll call you before withdrawing large sums of money & sending it to a "company."
I thought my mom would know better.
She didn't.
@VenessaG
I'm terribly sorry that your mom was caught off guard by scammers and wiped of most of her funds. It's extremely precarious out there and so easy to become prey. Fortunately, my mom wasn't online, but she had her share of phone and even mail scam attempts. I'm thankful nothing ever materialized and that she always used her sixth sense. I hope you're able to get her back on track without too many more problems.
@CherNohio Thanks so much. I'm frustrated because this happened over the course of three days and if she'd have just told me *while* it was happening... Argh!
@CherNohio She's definitely embarrassed. They were trying to get more money out of her and so she called me to ask for a password to the admin account my hubby has on her computer. That's the only reason I found out while they were still in the middle of it.
@VenessaG Oh gosh. Whew, thank goodness for those precautions you've taken.
