@catmomdo that they do. But I come to grips with it with each new dog knowing that day will come. Makes it easy to drag my butt out into the rain for a dog walk cause they don’t care. I’m also lucky in that my wife is good about knowing when the time comes. Me? I’d be spending every last dime to keep them going. I think that’s why I’ll always have a dog to fill that hole that is left by the previous one.
@TwitterExpat Same here... I've learned when the time is right though, but I also spend a lot maintaining their quality of life until the end. Our last 2 cats both passed in 2 months time in 2020, one 20 yrs old and the other 12... the void was enormous. So 6 months later, I went looking on Nextdoor and there were the remaining two siblings of a litter that I couldn't bear to separate, seeing them play together (#CatsofCoSo). They sure help to fill that void! Still miss my dogs too.
