I'm DONE with Target. My friend says it's bad because young people don't want to work. I disagreed, saying that they have zero management or leadership.

No one with any sense was observing or stepping in to teach or handle problems.

It's like Target doesn't give a shit.

Anyone would HATE that type of working environment.

@TwiHusband Not true. I have the best time in our WalMart, but can't speak for others.

Especially when I need help finding something. Target is a Hell of its own.

@QueenPhillippa I work part time at Sprawlmart to supplement my retirement. It's VERY true.....as a matter of company policy.

@QueenPhillippa I can say this since a realization struck me during the pandemic, about capitalism and retailing.

Our current model of capitalism is based on the fallacy of limitless growth. especially growth in profits. The problem is that reality ALWAYS imposes limits, and sooner or later you hit them. Or they hit you.

Walmart is a case in point as far as retailers. The retail model is grow and keep growing. By cheap, sell with as much mark-up as the market will bear, and keep costs down.

@QueenPhillippa Walmart is maxed out. They can't build more stores. In fact, they're closing stores. They can't buy their merch any cheaper, unless the Chinese give it to them for free. They can't mark it up any higher without turning people away. And still they have to grow their profit margin. All that's left is cost of labor.

Cut bodies, cut hours, work those that are left harder, and except some inevitable labor shortfall.

I see it every day.

@TwiHusband When I came home from overseas in the military I was instantly sick of the "growth for growth's sake" mentality that was everywhere, from small starting businesses to major corporations.

I knew it would cause a lot of mess and ultimate collapse because it NEVER MADE SENSE!
