@TwiHusband i don't even need 90%. can you imagine what we could do w/ 30% or 50%? it would be such a massive improvement to overall society. you could eradicate child poverty, house everyone, provide free healthcare to pretty much everyone, & you could support those w/ disabilities & elderly in a way that preserves dignity.

@singlemaltgirl The 50% funding would be good, but I regard the 90% as pest control. Every time the Conservatives grant the wealthy too much income, and therefore too much power, they end up burning half the country down. I submit the wealthy sect of "The Dominionists" as an example.
I don't mind some people living in luxury, if they've earned it, but 10% of a billion dollars is still an obscene amount of money. More than anyone needs or should have.

honestly, why are there billionaires? there is no need for any individual or family to have a billion dollars or more. it's obscene.
but if peeps thought 90% would somehow be too big a #....understanding the order of magnitude taxing billionaires at 30% (which is not far off many other peeps tax rates) or 50% (which is about the tax rate in 🇨🇦 for the very wealthy) seems totally reasonable.
@singlemaltgirl There are billionaires because we allowed them and the Conservative overseers to rig the system in their favor.....and the average slob has a short memory and no concept of history. Now the Kochs and their ilk want to rewrite the Constitution to make it permanent. They see themselves as the uncrowned aristocracy of America. They want their Robber Baronies back.
@TwiHusband it's not just the 🇺🇸 tho. there are a fair bit of billionaires that are russian, eu, british, chinese, african, & cdn. the usual suspects in terms of what industries they're in. all the shitty ones. if we taxed them all in a way to really tackle climate change & make lives better for all, it would be incredible.
@singlemaltgirl This time around though, the American rich have decided that they have more common interest with the rich in the rest of the world than they do with their own country. If that's how they want it, so be it. Tax therm into poverty if need be.
