@ToruOkada I keep wondering how these folks expected Brexit to be anything but it was.
@NickTheSkydiver There were other versions on the table but the Brextremists in parliament immediately captured the moment to enforce their idea of Brexit which culminated in Liz Truss' mini-budget. But some people got rich on the back of these changes, so all is good.
@ToruOkada Ultimately all of them involved leaving the single market and customs union though. There was no rational basis to believe Brexit in any form was going to be a good thing for the United Kingdom. Indeed it may destroy it entirely. I suspect Scotland will leave, and Northern Ireland will vote itself out of existence and unite with the Republic of Ireland before long.
@NickTheSkydiver EEA, single market membership, or customs union were all possibilities for a short time window. The ERG extremists forced May immediately to close this window while starting the timer by invoking Article 50. It went downhill from there.
