I am new on here, just started tonight. Heard a lot of good things about the site. I am an engineer, and a researcher, with a deep interest in politics and world affairs. I live in Alberta, Canada.

I will be looking around to get used to the place, and am interested in connecting with folk who know me on other sites as well as meeting new friends.

@TomjSmith2 i'm getting out of alberta but i wish you luck!

hello & welcome.

take your time. you'll get used to the way things work as you play w/ it. press ALLL the buttons. you won't break anything ๐Ÿ˜‹

if the site is overwhelming at 1st glance:
click on your handle > edit profile > preferences > ostrich mode > save changes.

check out the user guide - it's linked in the 3rd pinned post on my profile.

if you get stuck,
are a helpful bunch, too.

happy to have you here. ๐Ÿ˜Š

@singlemaltgirl @singlemaltgirl Thanks for the guidance and for the warm welcome!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I will have a gander at that user guide.
I am not sure how much longer we will be able to stay in Alberta either if things keep going downhill, but time will tell.

@TomjSmith2 i've been here for over a decade. gave it my best shot. the politics are killing my soul.

i'm re-locating to bc. i didn't think we could top kenney. then we got smith. i'm done.

i'm so sorry for all those who don't have the options i have & are not backwards thinking wexiters.

@singlemaltgirl I have been here 28 years. Because of Kenney we just lost our family doctor this summer. I just cannot believe that Smith actually got in. I am wondering what things will be like by the next election in May.

@TomjSmith2 i just couldn't stick around to find out. i know so many albertans who can't stomach the idea of voting ndp despite the fraud, lack of ethics, intolerance, & divisiveness of the ucp. i just can't understand & i'm too exhausted to try at this point. women, children, the disabled, bipoc, & 2slgbtq+ are all going to be worse off in this province despite all the riches it naturally has.

i'm so sorry about the loss of your family doc. health care is certainly being gutted.

sigh.

Follow

@singlemaltgirl Not sure if you have been following, but things have gotten worse. She has introduced the "Alberta Sovereignty Act" which claims to give her powers to refuse to obey federal laws of her choice and even in certain cases to by pass the legislature in changing laws.

@TomjSmith2 oh i don't want to follow. but i still have peeps there so they tell me shit. she's a nut bar. like the entire party she represents. all voters can do is vote them out in 2023. but will they? i don't know. i hope so. there's so much clean up to be done. sigh.

@singlemaltgirl She is already starting to make moves to do away with CPP and replace it, as well with the RCMP and replace it with a force that she can control directly. It scares me how much damage she could do between now and the election.

@TomjSmith2 well i think the cpp will be court challenged. or there will be some kind of revolt by the retiree base. at least i hope they can see sense in that.

the rcmp thing vs prov police force has already shown that it will cost 100s of millions for albertans. the munis are against it.

all we can hope for is the party slows this shit down. but i worry for my alberta folks. that & her dismantling of public health care (started by the other dumb fuck) is scary.
