We keep coming across things that were my dad’s. My aunt made a small quilt wall-hanging for his 75th birthday that everyone signed. We never hung it up, but letting go of it now that he’s gone along with several of those signing family members is like…ugh. But we have no use for it. It’s been sat in a drawer for almost 20 years. And looking at it makes mom and me both sad. So…trash? No one else wants it. There’s no one to give it to. So..sigh. Trash.

@TheRealDelia

You made the right decision. Don’t keep anything out of guilt. If it hasn’t been hung
in 20 yrs it is not a treasure.

Keep only the items that give you joy!

@TheRealDelia Is it of a size that would be a nice lap blanket at a senior center, or something for a neonatal unit? So much love in a quilt; it hurts to think of one going by the wayside. (And I absolutely sympathize -- whatever happens, this process is so hard.)

@TheRealDelia oh that's too bad. I think there are museums that will take quilt mementos like that...but you have to be in the right place to take advantage of it.
