These are the aristocratic Montgomery sistersโBarbara, Elizabeth, and Anneโdaughters of the Irish nobleman Sir William Montgomery and famously referred to as the "Irish Graces." In this painting, they are depicted gathering flowers to adorn a statue of Hymen, the Roman god of marriage.
