Women Who Defied Traditional Gender Roles
One lesser-known historical woman who defied traditional gender roles and changed history was Ada Lovelace, a 19th-century mathematician and writer. Born in 1815, Ada was the daughter of the famous poet Lord Byron, but her mother, determined to steer her away from her father's unpredictable nature, ensured she received a rigorous education in mathematics and scienceโsubjects rarely encouraged for women at the time.
In her notes on the Analytical Engine, she described how it could be programmed with algorithms to solve complex problems, making her the first person to conceptualize what we now know as computer programming. Lovel
